Promises of the Divine Mercy Chaplet

In her Diary, Saint Faustina records promises of mercy for those who pray the Chaplet with trust, and for the dying for whom it is prayed.

Promises recorded by Saint Faustina

Saint Faustina's Diary records promises Jesus attached to the Chaplet. These summaries gather them from several entries.

  1. Graces sought with trust. Jesus promises to grant what is asked through the Chaplet in accordance with his will (Diary, §§1541, 1731).
  2. Mercy for sinners. Even a hardened sinner who prays the Chaplet once is offered grace from Christ's mercy (§687).
  3. Help at the hour of death. Jesus promises his protection to those who pray the Chaplet with trust (§811).
  4. Mercy for the dying. The promise also concerns a dying person at whose bedside others pray the Chaplet (§§811, 1541).

Praying with trust

Devotion to Divine Mercy joins trust in God to mercy toward others. The promises invite contrition and perseverance, with requests entrusted to God's will. A peaceful death is understood as dying in God's grace; it does not mean every illness or pain will be removed.

These promises concern the Chaplet. The grace associated with Divine Mercy Sunday and prayer during the Hour of Mercy have their own context.

Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet on an ordinary rosary, following the bead guide for the sequence.
