The Baptism of Christ

Spiritual fruit: openness to the Holy SpiritMatthew 3:16-17

Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him. Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Meditation

Jesus enters the Jordan in solidarity with those who have come to repent. The Spirit descends and the Father's voice names him as the beloved Son. May we remember the grace of our own baptism and remain open to the Holy Spirit.

The Wedding at Cana

Spiritual fruit: to Jesus through MaryJohn 2:1-5

The third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the wedding. When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”

Meditation

Mary notices the need at Cana before anyone asks her for help. She brings it to Jesus and tells the servants to do whatever he says. May we learn her attentiveness, her confidence in Christ, and her readiness to serve.

The Proclamation of the Kingdom

Spiritual fruit: repentance and trust in GodMark 1:15

and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”

Meditation

Jesus announces that God's kingdom is near and calls people to repentance and faith. His invitation asks for more than words; it asks for a changed life. May we turn back to God honestly and receive his mercy.

The Transfiguration

Spiritual fruit: desire for holinessMatthew 17:1-2

After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves. He was changed before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.

Meditation

On the mountain, the disciples glimpse the glory of Christ and hear the Father's command to listen to him. The moment strengthens them for the road toward Jerusalem. May prayer help us see Christ more clearly and follow him when the way is difficult.

The Institution of the Eucharist

Spiritual fruit: adorationMatthew 26:26

As they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks for it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”

Meditation

At the Last Supper, Jesus gives himself to his disciples under the signs of bread and wine. The Eucharist joins thanksgiving, sacrifice, communion, and service. May we approach this gift with reverence and let it shape the way we love others.
